Joggie Viljoen

Halfback

Bio

Joggie ‘Bear’ Viljoen was still enjoying a distinguished career playing for the Manawatu Turbos in the 2007 Air New Zealand Cup. The former Springbok halfback, son of another Springbok halfback Joggie Viljoen Snr, was also a Hurricanes halfback in 2000.

He played seven matches for the Hurricanes as a back up to first choice number nine Jason Spice, after sparking a positive turnaround for Northland in the 1999 NPC. He played a second full season with Northland in 2000 before heading back home to South Africa.

Previously he had been a Springbok tourist to Argentina, France and Wales in 1996, a two-time South African U21 halfback and had spent three years playing Super 12 and Currie Cup rugby for the Stormers.
