Marcel Renata was called in as injury cover and quickly impressed the squad with his work ethic and attitude.
Having been a member of Auckland's Mitre 10 Cup squad, Renata made his debut for the Hurricanes against the defending Super Rugby champion Crusaders at Westpac Stadium.
He went on to make two appearances in 2018.
