Two Hurricanes Poua are set to feature for the Black Ferns in their Women's World Cup semi-final against Canada in Bristol on Saturday morning NZT.

With a place in next week's World Cup final at a sold-out Twickenham on the line, Ayesha Leti-I'iga will mark the occasion with a significant milestone of her own as she prepares to play her 30th test match for the Black Ferns.

Since her try-scoring debut against the United States in 2018, the 26-year-old wing has established herself as a powerful finisher at international level, racking up 21 tries in her 29 tests to date.

She is expected to have the chance to add to that tally after keeping her place on the bench for the third consecutive test since returning from an ankle injury.

Joining her in the reserves for the highly-anticipated fixture at Ashton Gate is Poua loose forward Layla Sae, who returns to the match day squad after missing last week's quarter-final victory over South Africa.

Having started in every match for the Black Ferns during the pool stage, Sae is in line to play in her first World Cup knockout match, four weeks after making her tournament debut against Spain.

Leti-I'iga and Sae collectively offer 46 tests worth of experience from the bench as the reigning back-to-back world champion Black Ferns look to book their spot in a third straight World Cup final.

Standing in their way is a Canada side that sits second in the World Rugby rankings, one place ahead of the Black Ferns, who have fallen to a draw and a loss in their two most recent encounters with the North American powerhouses.

Both of those matches - played in Christchurch as part of this year's and last year's Pacific Four Series - are the only times that the Black Ferns have failed to defeat Canada in their 19 matches, dating back to the 1991 World Cup.

A win for Canada this week would send them to their first-ever World Cup final, while victory for the Black Ferns would keep their hopes of clinching a record-extending seventh World Cup crown alive.

The winning team will face the winner of the other semi-final between England and France in London next Sunday NZT, with the losing sides to play each other in the third-place playoff earlier in the day.

The World Cup semi-final between the Black Ferns and Canada is scheduled for kick-off at 6am Saturday NZT.
