Hurricanes Poua loose forward Layla Sae has been included in the Black Ferns side to round out their World Cup campaign against France in the bronze final this weekend.

Sae has retained her place on the bench as the reserve loose forward following last week's semi-final defeat to Canada in Bristol as she looks to earn her 19th test cap and make her fifth World Cup appearance out of the six matches the Black Ferns have played.

The loss to Canada was the first the back-to-back reigning world champion Black Ferns have suffered at a World Cup since they were beaten by Ireland in pool play at the 2014 tournament.

Now scheduled to face France at a sold-out Twickenham - which will host the World Cup final between England and Canada later in the day - in the playoff for third-place, the Black Ferns will aim to round out their tournament on a winning note.

Against France, the Black Ferns have a record of seven wins from 12 tests dating back to 1996 - which includes their most recent fixture, a 39-14 win during last year's WXV 1 tournament in Vancouver.

All five of France's wins over the Black Ferns have come in the previous seven clashes between the two sides, while the Black Ferns are undefeated against the French in their last four World Cup encounters.

The World Cup bronze final between the Black Ferns and Canada is scheduled for kick-off at 11:30pm Saturday NZT.
