After an exciting alliance in 2023, the Hurricanes are thrilled to announce their renewed partnership with Wellington-based emergency air rescue and ambulance service, Life Flight.
Life Flight – who run three Air Ambulance Planes and the local Westpac Rescue Helicopter on a 24/7, 365-day service – fly people to the urgent medical care they need improving their chance of survival and recovery. And since 1982, they have helped over 40,000 Kiwis!
Hurricanes CEO Avan Lee said, “we’re excited to announce we are back in partnership with Life Flight as our official charity partner after joining forces in 2023.
“What Life Flight do to help so many New Zealanders in urgent need is incredible. We’ve built a strong partnership that we are really proud of, and we look forward to getting behind Life Flight again in their push to help save lives.”
Life Flight Partnership Manager Grant Elliott said, “We are really thrilled to be continuing our partnership with the Hurricanes after a successful partnership last year.
“Having such loyal partners who can help us spread the word by saving lives through our air ambulance service, is instrumental in helping us save lives 24/7. We are hoping that once again the loyal Hurricanes fans can get behind their team, and us as a charity, to make a difference in our communities.”
Each year, Life Flight faces significant operational costs, including fuel, maintenance, training, and equipment. Last year alone, the total cost was $14.5M.
Without the support of generous people in the community, Life Flight simply would not exist today. The community is relied upon to fund 52 percent of the annual costs so the crew can do what they do best – save lives!
Hurricanes fans will get the chance to show their support for Life Flight at Charity Round (Round Eight) against the Chiefs on Saturday, 13 April, at Sky Stadium. Fans can donate $2, $5, or $10 to Life Flight at checkout on all ticket sales this season.
At Charity Round, there will be a Life Flight Mini Airplane at the game, a DHL Box Seat Experience, Chemist Warehouse will giveaway bottles, and there will be Life Flight merchandise available, which all proceeds go to supporting Life Flight and the work they do for our community.
From 21 March – 12 May, Chemist Warehouse will also be supporting the five NZ Super Rugby club charity partners, including Life Flight.
Chemist Warehouse have 32 brands on board to help with donations. Every time a purchase is made on one of these participating products, five percent will be donated to these charities.
In a bonus, people will receive a free gift (while stocks last) for every $5.99 donation made.
Donating through Chemist Warehouse will boost donations and awareness to Life Flight’s cause and make a big difference across New Zealand.
Life Flight have their Open Day on 10 March where Hurricanes players will be in attendance.
