Hurricanes Poua named to take on nib Blues in RD3 of Super Rugby Aupiki

The Hurricanes Poua head coach, Victoria Grant, has named her side for Saturday's double-header against the nib Blues at Sky Stadium.

There is just one change to the run-on side that defeated Matatū in last weekend’s nail-biter, with Wellington’s Crystal Mayes making a start at fullback.

In the reserves, two-time Women’s Rugby World Cup winner, Aroha Savage, will make her Hurricanes Poua debut after injury saw her ruled out for the previous two rounds.

“We’re really excited to have Aroha back after injury, she brings so much experience and she’s a great leader in our loosie pack, so we’re just really excited for her to get out on the field and make an impact.

“The Blues are an exciting team, they’re physical, like to keep the ball alive and they attack out wide often so we need to be on the ball. We’ve been working on our defence to make sure we have everything covered,” said Grant.

Manawatū’s Rachael Rakatau will once again captain the side, with Jackie Patea-Fereti ruled out with injury.

The Hurricanes Poua take on the nib Blues on Saturday 11 March at 4:35PM in a double-header with the Hurricanes taking on the Blues at 7:05PM. Gates open at 4pm with 20% off all food on the concourse from 4PM until 5.30PM.

Guest performer, Ella Monnery, will perform at halftime and New Zealand hip hop pioneer, DJ Raw, lines up in the student zone.

Both matches will be aired live on Sky Sport.
