Four Hurricanes Poua players have been named in the Black Ferns XV side to face South Africa in the last of their two-match trip to Cape Town this weekend.

Following on from last week’s 34-26 win over the Springbok Women at Athlone Stadium, Poua lock Sam Taylor has retained her place in the starting lineup, while loose forward Elinor-Plum King keeps her spot on the bench.

King is joined in the reserves by utility back Leilani Hakiwai and uncapped youngster Keira Su’a-Smith, who have both been elevated into the matchday squad.

This weekend’s match rounds out the Black Ferns XV schedule for 2025. The team also faced the Black Ferns in Whangārei prior to their departure to South Africa.

These fixtures served as preparation for the Black Ferns and Springbok Women ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, kicking off in England later this month, while also providing New Zealand’s rising crop of talent with valuable exposure to test rugby.

The Black Ferns XV’s second clash against the Springbok Women kicks off at 3am Sunday NZT.
