The Hurricanes have been well represented in this year's All Blacks XV side, with four players named in today's squad announcement for the team's upcoming Northern Tour.

Loosehead prop Xavier Numia, lock Isaia Walker-Leawere, and loose forward Devan Flanders have all retained their places in the All Blacks XV squad after featuring for the side last year.

Having toured with the team in 2023 and 2024, Numia has three All Blacks XV caps to his name, while Walker-Leawere and Flanders are in line to add to the two appearances they earned last year.

All three players will be joined by Hurricanes teammate Siale Lauaki, who is among the new caps in the squad and is the equal-youngest player in the squad.

A former New Zealand Schools and New Zealand U20 representative, the 22-year-old prop is set to add to his international experience at a senior level for the first time after showcasing his potential with Wellington in the NPC.

Together, the four Hurricanes players will be joined by Hurricanes assistant coaches Jamie Mackintosh and Cory Jane, as well as Hurricanes team doctor Theo Dorfling, all of whom were confirmed as part of the All Blacks XV management team last week.

“It’s a squad with a good mix of experience and emerging talent and reflects the depth that’s building in the NPC and Super Rugby Pacific,” All Blacks XV head coach Jamie Joseph said.

“There were a number of players who have put their hands up during the NPC and that made for some tight calls, but we think we’ve got the balance right."

Serving as New Zealand's second-string national side since its inception in 2022, the All Blacks XV will embark on their fourth tour abroad when they head to Europe for three matches next month.

They will open the tour against the Barbarians at Gtech Community Stadium in London, home of Premier League club Brentford, on November 2 NZT in a fixture that acts as a rematch between the two sides following their 2022 encounter in the British capital, won 35-31 by the Barbarians at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The All Blacks XV then head to Bath, where they will face an England A side at the Recreation Ground on November 9 NZT, before rounding out the tour against Uruguay on November 16 NZT. The venue and kick-off time for the final fixture is yet to be confirmed.

“A core purpose of this team is to develop and promote players through to the next level and the effectiveness of the pathway was highlighted in the All Blacks Northern Tour squad which included seven members of the 2024 All Blacks XV squad," Joseph said.

“No doubt some of these players will progress on to the All Blacks in future years and if that’s the case we will have done our job. The core focus in the short term will be heading North to represent the black jersey and win three games in Europe.”

All Blacks XV players will be available for this weekend's NPC semi-finals and next week's final, making Walker-Leawere and Flanders available for Hawke's Bay's semi-final against Canterbury in Christchurch on Saturday.

Players not involved in the final will assemble on October 24 before departing for England.
