Extra value for Canes members in 2018

An extra New Zealand derby match, free finals tickets, and the right to purchase tickets to two All Blacks tests will be among the sweeteners for Hurricanes members in 2018.

The club's season membership packages for the 2018 Investec Super Rugby season go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday, September 12) from midday at www.rugbymemberships.co.nz from as little as $129.

The Hurricanes will once again play eight home matches in 2018 including seven at Westpac Stadium where the ground known by fans as "Our House" will host four New Zealand derby matches.

Hurricanes members will also have right to purchase tickets for the All Blacks' tests in Wellington against France (June 16) and South Africa (September 15).

Should head coach Chris Boyd guide his team to the playoffs for a fourth successive year members will once again be offered free tickets based on their membership category.

Boyd said it was crucial to have a loyal support base behind the team at the pointy end of the season.

"The fans have been a major driver for our success over the past three years and particularly at home," he said. "They spurred us into the final in 2015 and pushed us over the line in 2016."

Hurricanes captain Dane Coles agreed.

"There is nothing better than running out in front of a packed house and I know it means a lot to the players and their families when so many people have our backs."

Membership prices have not increased on 2017 and Hurricanes chief executive Avan Lee said that was a reflection of the club's growing support base.

"We had 1900 members in 2015, 4500 in 2016 and 6700 last year and I'd like to think that growth is a reflection of both the team's performance and the fact that we are offering value for money."

Seven-game Adult memberships for Westpac Stadium will start from $129 with kids just $49 across all categories, while a new Family Zone will offer one adult and one child from $149.

Platinum Adult members will receive free tickets to all home playoff matches in 2018, while Silver Adult members will go free to the semi-final and final, and Bronze Adult members to the final.

"If we are good enough to make it to the final and to have home advantage we want to make sure none of our members get left behind," Lee said.

Kids, family and student members will all have the right to purchase their membership seat for all finals matches.

The Hurricanes have also introduced a new Canes Global option designed to cater for Hurricanes fans not living in Wellington, which will go on sale once the full Investec Super Rugby draw has been announced.
