Sam McNicol was a really talented outside back who was first selected in the Hurricanes wider training squad despite not having played provincial rugby.
A player with great speed, McNicol played just once for the club as injury hit him hard. It was to be a theme of his early career as he continued to battle problems after shifting to the Chiefs.
