A popular member of any squad he was involved in, Mahonri Schwalger added a large number of Super Rugby clubs and provinces to his resume while playing in New Zealand.

His first class career started in Hawke's Bay but he also played provincial rugby for Wellington, Taranaki and Counties Manukau.

His Super Rugby career was also punctuated by moves as he represented the Highlanders, Hurricanes in 2007 and the Chiefs.

In between he also had a three-year stint in Wales and England while he also captain Samoa during his 40 appearances for his country.
