Dallas Seymour’s career scrapbook is impressive, though it is as a long-time New Zealand Sevens star that he is most remembered for. Alongside Eric Rush, Seymour is synonymous with the Sevens game in New Zealand, having been a regular fixture in the shorter version of the game between 1988-2002. This included 35 tournaments and a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Seymour also played for the All Blacks in three tour matches in 1992 in Australia and South Africa, as well as selection in numerous other representative teams. These included the New Zealand Colts in 1987, New Zealand Universities in 1987-1988 and 1992, New Zealand Maori in 1992, 1996, 1998 and 1999, the Divisional XV in 1996, a North Island XV against Canada in 1995, the New Zealand XV against England B in 1992 and in six All Black trials between 1988-1994.

By the time of his retirement, Seymour was also a vastly experienced first class player with 108 caps spread between Canterbury between 1988-1993 and 2000, Hawke’s Bay between 1994-1996, Wellington between 1997-1999 and Bay of Plenty in 2001.

Seymour also played 13 times for the Crusaders in 2000-2001.
