The Hurricanes Cheerleaders were started in 2003, as a way of further promoting the Hurricanes team spirit. Their main role is to help motivate the rugby fans at all the Hurricanes home games. They lead cheers and dance, as well as doing in-game promotions such as shirt slinging, contests, and handing out promotional items.
The Hurricanes Cheerleaders consist of a squad of 18 women chosen for their athletic abilities and outgoing personalities. Candidates must be over 18 years old and love the game of rugby. Tryouts are held in just before the start of the Hurricane season.
