Captain Hurricane

Captain HurricaneCaptain Hurricane is the Hurricanes' mascot and the team's most ardent supporter. He was selected for this demanding role back in 1998, after a mascot hunt involving school children throughout the region.

Captain Hurricane loves his job - wherever the Hurricanes need support, he'll be there. He attends every home game, and often appears at shopping malls, at schools, in the Hurricane Zone and all over the Hurricanes region. His efforts have won him a strong following among Hurricanes fans and the respect of the Hurricanes players. What's more, his trademark salute is recognised by rugby followers throughout the world.

Captain Hurricane's World War II Hurriplane!

Captain Hurricane gets more and more busy every year, so the Hurricanes built him his own plane to travel in. It's called the Hurriplane and it's design is based on a Hurricane fighter aircraft from World War II. It has a cannon that fires rugby balls into the crowd at each game. Find out more about how the Hurriplane was constructed here...

Captain Hurricane will be in the thick of the action again this season, so watch out for him at each Hurricanes home game. And remember, if you see the Captain, don't forget to salute! Go Canes!
